Fall is in the air…and oops almost forgot I’m supposed to blog hop today!
Fall is in the air and along with it comes the overwhelming urge to have a crochet hook in hand 24/7! Not that I don’t have that urge everyday of the year but there is something about the cool breezes and nutty aromas of autumn that make me want to create all things warm and snuggly.
Last week I guest blogged over at The Crochet Crowd. Hooked on September, compiled a list of links to all the current challenges going on over there this month. There is no shortage of great ideas and inspirations.
So…as I sit and compile this blog I realize that today is September 16th and I was nominated to participate in an artist blog hop by Teresa from Harvester Products. So allow me to shift directions here. The idea is to answer 4 questions and then nominate 1-3 other artists who will answer the same four questions and nominate 1-3 others, one week later.
Why do I do what I do?
This one is pretty simple, because I can’t imagine not doing it! I have only been crocheting for about 2 1/2 years, but it feels like it has always been a part of who I am. God willing, it will forever be a part of who I am.
How does my work differ from others of its genre?
I’m not sure it does. There is so much out there, crochet has been around for a very long time, and like books, there are only so many stories to be told. I think it is in how you tell the story. When I create projects I pour my heart into them. I usually create with something or someone in mind. While I have created several of my own designs, I use purchased patterns and free patterns that anyone could use as well. I love what I do, but know there are others out there who are equally or exceedingly talented.
How does my creative process work?
Like a hyperactive squirrel! It is all over the place most of the time. I’m easily distracted by shiny objects, new challenges and just straight up fun stuff! I will begin many projects, but will put one down to move onto something I like more. You can tell the projects my heart was into because you will actually see them appear on my blog!
What am I working on now?
SO much! Monkeying Around is one of my entries for the Stranded & Tangled in Madagascar Challenge, I am working on a few others as well. It’s not too late! You can do it too. Check it out, there’s lots of prizes up for grabs. I have also been working on a tutorial for this little Stitch Witch to use in the Grim Challenge.
I’m also part of my churches Shawl Ministry, and I’m currently working on a red, white, and blue prayer shawl. Of course there are about half dozen other various projects on hooks strewn around my house.
I just finished testing a pattern I’m excited to share about in the very near future!!
Now that you know my answers tune in next week! I hope my nominations will play along. I am nominating Sonya Blackstone from Blackstone Designs and Deb Johnson from Deb Johnson Illustration and Design
I met Sonya Blackstone while we were both finalists in the My Mountain Hat Design Contest. She is a very talented crochet artist! Her patterns are fun and versatile. I used one of her patterns to create the skirt I used in the Monkeying Around set. You can check out the original pattern here:
Deb Johnson illustrates and is a crochet/knitter as well! She has designed the most ADORABLE notecards for hookers! You can get your own! Don’t “ewe” just love them?
So, tell me, what are you working on?
Casting off until the next time we hook up!
