Will you be getting your Red Nose On?
Tomorrow is Red Nose Day. What is that? “Red Nose Day is a campaign dedicated to raising money for children and young people living in poverty by simply having fun and making people laugh.”
There are a ton of ways people will be celebrating and raising funds for this event. You can check out many of them at the Red Nose Day website.
There are lots of ways to get in on the fun including a Official Red Nose App
NBC will be airing “A monumental night of comedy, music and celebrities,” on May 21st.
How to Get YOUR Red Nose On
Walgreens was selling Red Noses with all the proceeds going to the cause, but many have been unable to get any because they have been selling out. I decided to work up a quick pattern so you can make your own Red Nose and join in on the celebration. It’s a free pattern, but how awesome would it be if you went over to the Red Nose site and made a donation!? DONATE TO RED NOSE HERE
RED NOSE PATTERN
Chunky Red Yarn ( I used Loops & Threads Charisma from Michael’s in True Red)
Size H Hook
Small Amount Nuetral Colored Yarn ( I used Lily Sugar ‘n Cream in Chamomile)
Start with 6 sc in a magic circle.
Pull together and work in the round, don’t join.
Round 1: 2 sc in each stitch around. (12)
Round 2: 2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in next. Repeat 5 more times. (18)
Round 3-5: Sc around. (18)
Round 6: sc in next 4 stitches, sc2tog. Repeat 2 more times. (15)
Round 7: sc in each stitch around. (15)
Join and weave in the end.
Use a double strand of the cotton yarn and attach to either side at the base of the nose. This will be tied around your head to keep in place. The length is dependent on the size of head it is wrapping around.
Thanks for stopping by! I would love to see pictures of your Red Noses, or hear stories about how you participated!
